The Voice Over

Topic: Performing Arts Careers

Empowerment Lesson Video: Performing Arts Careers

Supplies:

  • Blindfold/scarf/bandana

Video Discussion:

Tell students they will be watching the video titled Performing Arts Careers. Explain that the video presents role models who work as or with performing artists talking about why students should consider a career in the performing arts.

After viewing, invite students to share specific things they learned about the different performing arts careers featured in the video and to reflect upon their observations (e.g., “I liked when the dancer said that performing is magical!”).

Activity Instructions:

This game will help students practice expressions using their voice.

  1. Blindfold one student and line up the others.
  2. One at a time, have the students take turns standing in front of the blindfolded student and say ‘Who am I?’ while creatively disguising their voices.
  3. The blindfolded student will try and guess the student’s name. If the answer is right, the blindfold passes on and so on. Make sure all the students have a turn both at being blindfolded and at disguising their voice.
