Watch Shakira Morera-Felix, Chemist with NASA Johnson Space Center contractor Hamilton Sundstrand, discuss her love of the scientific method and the important role it plays in her work. As a chemist, she analyzes samples of materials that can come from an Astronaut’s glove, the window of the space shuttle or from space. She also explains how she capitalized on the opportunity she was given from an academic advisor, in her native Puerto Rico, to launch the research aspect of her career. She was able to present her research finding at national scientific meetings as an undergraduate in college.
