Watch Tania Leon, conductor and composer of music for opera, ballet and theater, discuss her creative process and her journey from Havana, Cuba to prestigious stages around the world. We learn about her highly acclaimed collaboration with Arthur Mitchell as a founding member and musical director of the Dance Theatre of Harlem, a world class, neoclassical ballet company. Her opera, “Scourge of Hyacinths”, based on a radio play by Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka, was commissioned for the Munich Biennale and won the BMW prize as Best New Opera.
