Watch Nancy Andrews, a retired Master Teacher in literacy with the State of Maine Department of Education. The most rewarding part of her work was reading the student essays for the statewide reading and writing assessments and seeing improved students’ skills over the years. Nancy says that girls should consider a career in education because teachers have a significant influence on their students and can help build their confidence and open their minds to exciting things. Her advice to girls is don’t let anybody tell you that you can’t do something. They can be anything that they want to be.
