What is a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)?
A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is a smart way for individuals aged 70½ or older to make a tax-efficient donation directly from their Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to a qualified nonprofit. By giving through a QCD, you can satisfy part or all of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) without the withdrawal being counted as taxable income. This can help lower your overall tax burden and may even keep you in a lower tax bracket.
QCDs are a great way to use pre-tax retirement savings to support causes you care about while maximizing your tax benefits. With a simple transfer process from your IRA custodian to the nonprofit, a QCD is an easy and impactful way to give back and make a difference.
