Watch Chief Carmen Best, Seattle’s first African American woman Chief of Police, share why being a police officer is an excellent career for girls to consider. First, women do very well in policing. And second, if you are public service minded and want to help build trust and safety in the area you live, then policing is a great opportunity to give back to your community. Although many people think it is about car chases and gunfights, policing is often more about being able to help people in vulnerable times. Chief Best’s advice on developing resiliency is to never quit. If you are tired, then take a rest. But never quit.
